Job Summary:
The Assistant Production Manager supports the Production Manager in overseeing manufacturing processes, ensuring efficiency, quality, and safety standards are met. This role involves coordinating production schedules, supervising staff, optimizing workflows, and assisting in continuous improvement initiatives to meet production targets.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Production Planning & Coordination:
- Assist in developing and implementing production schedules to meet deadlines.
- Monitor workflow and adjust resources (labor, materials, equipment) as needed.
- Ensure production output meets quality and efficiency standards.
2. Team Supervision & Training:
- Supervise production staff, including line leaders and operators.
- Assist in training employees on safety protocols, equipment use, and SOPs.
- Foster a positive work environment and resolve team conflicts.
3. Quality Control & Compliance:
- Ensure products meet company and regulatory quality standards.
- Implement corrective actions for defects or deviations in production.
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, ISO, GMP, or other industry regulations.
4. Process Improvement:
- Identify bottlenecks and recommend efficiency improvements.
- Support Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or 5S initiatives.
- Assist in cost-reduction strategies without compromising quality.
5. Inventory & Equipment Management:
- Monitor raw material and finished goods inventory levels.
- Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to prevent shortages.
- Ensure machinery is maintained and report malfunctions.
6. Reporting & Documentation:
- Prepare production reports (output, downtime, scrap rates).
- Maintain records of safety inspections, training, and incidents.
- Assist in budget tracking and KPI analysis.
