Assistant Manager, Motor Underwriter & Business Development

Responsible for leading a team while driving business growth, underwriting activities, and operational excellence within the general insurance portfolio, including motor insurance. The role involves managing client and intermediary relationships, achieving premium growth targets, and ensuring high service standards and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and manage team performance to achieve KPIs and service standards.
• Drive business development initiatives to acquire and retain clients across general insurance lines, including motor insurance.
• Build strong relationships with agents, brokers, and corporate clients to support portfolio growth.
• Perform underwriting and pricing assessments for commercial, industrial, and motor risks within delegated authority.
• Prepare quotations, renewals, and underwriting recommendations while ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with internal departments to ensure efficient service delivery and operational effectiveness.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant general insurance experience, preferably with exposure to motor underwriting and business development.
• CGI certification preferred/required.
• Strong leadership, communication, underwriting, and relationship management skills.
