Job Description

Job Title: Assistant Manager / Manager, Strategic Planning

Role Overview

As part of the Strategic Planning team, you will support senior management in shaping Apical's growth and long-term strategy. The role focuses on strategic analysis, business case development, and execution of group-level initiatives, including M&A, joint ventures, and greenfield/brownfield projects.

This is a high-exposure role with direct involvement in C-suite, Investment Committee, and Board-level discussions, working closely with commercial, operations, and finance teams across the Group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct industry, market, and value chain analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Develop and evaluate business cases, investment proposals, and long-range strategic plans.
  • Support and coordinate M&A, JV, and project development activities, including due diligence and execution.
  • Partner business units to shape growth strategies, commercial initiatives, and profitability improvement plans.
  • Monitor market trends, pricing dynamics, regulatory developments, and emerging risks/opportunities.
  • Track strategic initiatives and monitor KPIs and performance outcomes.
  • Prepare clear, concise presentations for senior management, Investment Committee, and Board meetings.
  • Coordinate senior management discussions and provide secretariat support when required.
  • Lead or support cross-functional strategic projects and ensure timely execution.
  • Manage internal and external stakeholders with strong influencing and communication skills.

Requirements

Experience

  • Min 5 years of relevant experience
  • Background in management consulting (strategy, corporate finance roles). Preferred: Commercial, business development, or P&L-related experience in an operating environment
  • Exposure to agribusiness, energy, or continuous manufacturing is an advantage

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering, Accountancy, Business Administration, Mathematics, or Sciences from a reputable university. MBA, CFA, or equivalent qualifications are a plus

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial modelling skills
  • Solid understanding of strategy formulation, corporate finance, and investment evaluation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to distil complex analysis into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders
  • Strong stakeholder management, project management, and collaboration capabilities
  • Self-driven, adaptable, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment
