Job Description:
1. Cost Estimation & Analysis
Prepare comprehensive cost estimates and project timelines for ship repair, conversion, and newbuilding projects, covering labour, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
Review technical drawings, project specifications, and client requirements to determine accurate scope and costs.
Ensure all cost components are properly documented and comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
2. Tender & Quotation Preparation
Prepare and submit tenders or quotations in response to client requests or bidding opportunities.
Coordinate with procurement, production, and engineering teams to verify cost inputs, schedules, and resource availability.
Update estimates as project specifications or conditions evolve.
3. Coordination & Communication
Work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and department leads to gather information and validate technical requirements.
Participate in tender meetings, site inspections, and client discussions when necessary.
Liaise with Finance and management for pricing approvals and commercial strategy alignment.
4. Cost Control & Reporting
Maintain up-to-date records of labour rates, material costs, and subcontractor pricing.
Provide input for post-project reviews to enhance future estimation accuracy.
Support the development of cost-control measures and project profitability analysis.
Requirements:
Diploma or Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in ship repair, conversion, or newbuilding cost estimation within a shipyard setting.
Solid understanding of ship structures, systems, and repair processes.
Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and coordination skills for working with internal teams and clients.
Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and accountability.
Experience in yard production is advantageous.
Proficient in cost estimation software and Microsoft Office.
Bilingual skills are advantageous, as projects may involve coordination with foreign counterparts.
