About the Role
The ESG Reporting Governance Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining a robust governance framework for ESG disclosures across the organisation. This role ensures that ESG reporting processes are compliant, transparent, and aligned with global standards and regulatory expectations. The manager will lead the development of internal controls, define roles and responsibilities, and coordinate cross-functional collaboration to support high-quality, auditable ESG disclosures. By embedding governance best practices, the role plays a critical part in enhancing the credibility, consistency, and integrity of AIA's ESG reporting and assurance readiness.

Roles and Responsibilities:
- IFRS Sustainability & ESG Controls: Oversee the IFRS Sustainability disclosure agenda and collaborate with Finance to design and implement a robust internal control framework for ESG reporting. Support ESG metric owners-many outside Finance-with control design and risk mitigation.
- Regulatory & Framework Monitoring: Stay abreast of internal and external ESG reporting requirements, monitor emerging stakeholder needs, and ensure alignment with global ESG frameworks and best practices.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with metric owners, internal teams, and external specialists to collect, aggregate, and analyze ESG data. Ensuring disclosures align with the Group's strategic priorities across mandatory and voluntary reporting.
- Risk & Compliance Oversight: Identify and assess ESG-related risks across operations, supply chains, and stakeholder engagements. Conduct regular reviews and audits of ESG processes and controls to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
- Stakeholder Training & Support: Provide guidance and training to internal stakeholders on ESG control requirements, fostering awareness and capability across the organization.
- External Assurance Leadership: Lead the external assurance process for ESG data, working closely with auditors and assurance providers to validate disclosures and support audit readiness.
- Internal Assurance & Governance: Drive internal assurance activities for non-financial disclosures, ensuring governance and control standards are met. Support internal reviews, including audit reports and quality performance reviews (QPR).
- Strategic Advisory & Problem Solving: Analyzes audit findings and recommend pragmatic solutions to ESG control issues. Contribute to strategic ESG initiatives and reporting enhancements.
- Continuous Improvement & Flexibility: Champion improvements in ESG control processes and remain flexible to support emerging ESG projects and priorities as the role evolves.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Sustainability, Law, or related field.
- Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CA, CFA, or ESG-specific credentials like SASB FSA, GRI, or CFA ESG Certificate) preferred.
- Experience
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in ESG reporting, corporate governance, or audit/compliance.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
- Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of ESG regulations and assurance standards (e.g., HKICPA, ISAE 3000).
- Excellent project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail and data integrity.
- Strong communication and report-writing skills.
