Job Description

Job Purpose

The Assistant Manager (AM) will assist the General Manager (GM) Commercial Business in maintaining a high standard of safety and reliability of the fleet or equipment that are under the care of Strides Premier Automotive Services (SP Auto) Commercial Business. He/She will also assist to manage existing fleet projects undertaken by SP Auto. The AM willalso be tasked in delivering data‑driven insights, telematics‑enabled solutions, and operational analysis to improve commercial performance,service delivery, and customer outcomes. The role focuses on translating telematics and operational data into actionable insights, supporting decision‑making in areas such as fleet performance, customer contracts, safety,productivity, and business development.

Responsbilities

. Commercial & PerformanceAnalytics

  • Analyse commercial, operational, and fleet performance data to support management decisions.
  • Identify trends, anomalies, improvement opportunities and corrective actions where applicable though data analysis.
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and insights to track revenue, cost, margin, and productivity KPIs and identify gaps and corrective actions where applicable through data analysis.

2. Telematics & Digital SolutionsSupport

  • Support deployment, management, and optimisation of telematics systems across fleets.
  • Analyse telematics data (e.g. vehicle health, driver behaviour, asset utilisation) to improve safety, reliability, and cost efficiency.

3. Operational & Service Support

  • Support operational teams with data‑backed insights to improve workshop scheduling, turnaround time, and preventative maintenance planning.
  • Assist in monitoring service level and contractual performance using operational data.
  • Provide analytical support for continuous improvement initiatives across workshops and fleet operations.
  • Participate in operational reviews and follow up on action items.
  • Provide analytical input to support contract renewals, variations, and service enhancements.
  • Help translate customer needs into data‑enabled solutions.

4. Business Development &Proposal Support

  • Support business development initiatives with data analysis, costing models, and performance assumptions.
  • Assist in tenders and proposals by providing telematics‑based insights and operational metrics.
  • Contribute to the development of differentiated, data‑driven customer offerings.

5. Safety, Quality & RiskInsights

  • Use telematics and operational data to support safety monitoring and reporting (e.g. speeding, harsh driving, fatigue indicators).
  • Assist in identifying safety risks and trends for management review.
  • Support compliance reporting related to fleet and operational safety where required.

6. Stakeholder & Cross‑FunctionalCollaboration

  • Work closely with operations, IT, finance, safety, and commercial teams to ensure data accuracy and usability.
  • Coordinate with telematics vendors and service partners.
  • Support management presentations with clear, data‑driven visuals and insights.

7. Any Other Taskings

. Facilitate weekly departmental meetings and set departmental and service goals.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline.
  • Min 2 years of relevant experience, preferably within: Fleet management / Automotive or transport services / Telematics or IoT‑enabled environments
  • Hands‑on experience working with telematics platforms and vehicle data is advantageous

Technical Skills & Competencies

  • Strong data analytics skills (e.g. Excel, Power BI, Tableau, SQL or equivalent tools).
  • Working knowledge of telematics systems, fleet data, and automotive operational metrics.
  • Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Strong problem‑solving, analytical and attention‑to‑detail skills.
  • Effective communication skills to engage both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
