Job Description
The Assistant Actuarial Manager will support the optimization of key financial performance indicators and drive strategic business initiatives that enhance business growth, profitability, value generation, solvency, and capital efficiency. The role works closely with actuarial, finance, product, distribution, and senior management stakeholders to monitor initiative progress, evaluate financial impacts, and support the delivery of sustainable value creation under embedded value, IFRS 17, and capital management frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
Financial KPI Optimization & Business Value Management
- Support the identification, assessment, and implementation of business initiatives aimed at improving key financial metrics, including New Business Value (NBV), solvency ratios, capital efficiency, and IFRS 17 Core Earnings.
- Coordinate the review and tracking of NBV, solvency, capital, and other value-enhancing initiatives across relevant stakeholders, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Drive analyses and recommendations to improve business quality, profitability, and value generation outcomes.
Business Initiative Governance and Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate the consolidation of progress updates on strategic business initiatives for senior management reporting.
- Track initiative milestones, financial impacts, implementation status, key risks, and mitigation actions.
- Facilitate discussions among stakeholders to resolve issues, remove implementation roadblocks, and ensure timely execution of agreed action plans.
Management Reporting
- Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior management on initiative progress.
- Clearly communicate financial impacts, emerging risks, recommended actions, and expected business outcomes.
- Contribute to executive-level discussions by providing robust actuarial and financial analysis.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Progress toward actuarial qualification from a recognized actuarial body (e.g., IFoA, SOA, CAS, Institute of Actuaries Australia) preferred.
Experience
- 4-7 years of experience in life insurance actuarial, finance, valuation, business performance management, or related areas.
- Experience with New Business Value, capital management, solvency frameworks, and/or IFRS 17 reporting.
- Experience in business performance analysis, financial impact assessment, or strategic business initiatives is advantageous.
