Assistant Lab Manager (Microbiology / Biotechnology)

We are partnering with a global MNC headquartered in US who is renowned for their CDMO / CRO services and full suite of solutions in supporting laboratory testing and manufacturingactivities. As a key provider of microbiological services, they are now looking to expand the Technical Services team in Singapore. The Assistant Lab Manager role is a new headcount looking after the Microbial Solutions and leading a team of Analysts.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Regional Senior Lab Manager, this role is responsible for supporting the leadership and operational management of Microbial testing services for their customers, ensuring all activities comply with regulatory standards such as ISO 17025 and cGMP. The position oversees a team of more than 5 laboratory analysts, providing mentorship, technical guidance, and ensuring accurate execution and reporting of microbiological testing.

Key responsibilities include leading method development, validation and transfer for new projects, reviewing analytical data, serving as a technical subject matter expert, and acting as a liaison with clients on scientific matters. The role also involves maintaining quality and regulatory compliance through SOP development, audit participation, and continuous improvement initiatives while supporting the Senior Laboratory Manager in day-to-day operations and project delivery.

Requirements

The ideal candidate is someone with at least 6 8 years of hands-on, technical laboratory testing experiences, ideally in Microbiological services. You will need to have prior experience in Pharmaceutical, Medical Devices, and/or Contract Lab Testing environment. As this is a people management role, you will have at least 2 years of team management experiences. Having good knowledge of cGMP, ISO17025 and other regulatory guidelines will be required.
