Assistant Head, English Language (Full-Time)
Reporting to the Head of English Language & Literature, you will be responsible for all delegated duties related to Planning & Strategic Development, Academic Leadership and People Resource Planning & Development. You are expected to assist in professional and administrative matters concerning the department and support the professional development of teachers through dedicated coaching and mentoring.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement a comprehensive curriculum and instructional programme that develops grounding in disciplines and encourages integration of knowledge.
- Oversee the effective teaching of the subject in the school and the effective conduct of assessments on the subject.
- Develop and adapt effective teaching and pedagogy strategies for the subject to increase learning effectiveness (e.g. remedial and enrichment activities for students, etc).
- Prepare organize suitable teaching/learning resources (e.g. textbooks, supplementary material, etc) in collaboration with department teachers.
- Ensure rigorous assessment design principles are employed during assessment vetting processes and examination report writing.
- Monitor students academic performance in subject to ensure high performance and learning standards.
- Enhance the professional effectiveness of teachers through dedicated coaching and mentoring.
- Support the development, utilization and evaluation of full potential of teachers in the department via training and professional upgrading plans.
- Assist with assigned responsibilities as mentors or leads in school-wide organizing committees.
Requirements:
- A good Bachelor's degree in the relevant discipline is required with relevant teaching qualifications.
- Minimum 5 - 8 years of relevant teaching experience.
- Interpersonal Skills, Management Skills, Effective Communication and Curriculum Leadership.
- Strong verbal communication and written English
