Job Summary
The Assistant Factory Manager supports the Factory Manager in overseeing daily plant operations within a steel or rebar manufacturing facility. The role ensures efficient production, quality compliance, safety adherence, and optimal use of manpower and resources. The position plays a key role in meeting production targets while maintaining cost efficiency and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Management
- Assist in planning, scheduling, and supervising daily production activities
- Ensure production targets, output quality, and delivery deadlines are met
- Monitor machine utilization, line efficiency, and downtime reduction
- Coordinate with production supervisors to resolve operational issues
2. Quality Control
- Ensure products meet required specifications, standards and customer requirements
- Work closely with QA/QC teams to identify defects and implement corrective actions
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality
3. Maintenance & Operations Support
- Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance with engineering teams
- Ensure machinery and equipment are operating safely and efficiently
- Minimize production interruptions due to equipment failure
4. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
- Enforce strict compliance with workplace safety regulations
- Promote safe working practices in a heavy industrial environment
- Participate in safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations
- Ensure proper use of PPE and adherence to environmental standards
5. Manpower & Team Supervision
- Assist in managing supervisors, operators, and factory workers
- Support workforce planning, shift allocation, and performance monitoring
- Provide on-the-job training and skill development for staff
6. Inventory & Materials Management
- Monitor raw material usage
- Coordinate with procurement and warehouse teams to maintain stock levels
- Reduce material wastage and improve yield efficiency
7. Reporting & Administration
- Prepare daily/weekly production and performance reports
- Track KPIs such as output, downtime, rejection rate, and efficiency
- Report operational issues and improvement recommendations to Factory Manager
8. Continuous Improvement
- Support Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Kaizen initiatives
- Identify process bottlenecks and suggest improvements
- Contribute to cost reduction and productivity enhancement programs
