The Asst Engineer cum Application Specialist reports to the Engineering Solution Manager and responsible for providing both In-House equipment technical support and application expertise to internal and external customers/suppliers. This dual-role position includes managing and planning equipment installation, maintenance, troubleshooting& user training, while ensuring optimal equipment performance. It also involves identifying and implementing internal process improvement solutions and supporting sales teams through technical trials, applications, and presentations.
Responsibilities:
1. Technical Support & Maintenance
- Installation, calibration & maintenance work of equipment or instruments at both in house or customer sites.
- Carry out preventive maintenance and troubleshoot hardware or software issues.
- Conduct testing and validation to ensure equipment functionality and compliance with standards.
- Maintain accurate service logs, calibration records, and technical reports.
- Provide timely field support and coordinate repairs or replacements when required.
- Source & liaison with equipment suppliers on internal require process specifications for solution proposal.
2. Application Support
- Demonstrate product and applications capabilities to internal and customers and supplier partners.
- Provide hands-on user training and guidance on product operation and best practices.
- Support new product launches, application development, and testing activities.
- Collaborate with the sales team to design and conduct product trials, evaluations, and demonstrations.
- Gather customer feedback and report technical or performance issues for product improvement.
3. Supplier, Customer & Internal Liaison
- Serve as a key contact between equipment suppliers, customers, sales, and product teams to ensure smooth communication & customer satisfaction.
- Assist in preparing technical documentation, user manuals, and training materials.
- Provide post-installation support and ensure smooth handover process to customers.
4. Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all service and application activities comply with company safety, quality ®ulatory standards.
- Follow proper procedures for handling and disposing of laboratory or industrial materials safely.
Pre-requisities:
- ITE or Diploma in Engineering or equivalent technical field.
- Proven experience in a similar role within manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong technical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Knowledge of instrument & machineries calibration, validation, and maintenance procedures with hands-on ability to use hand tools, gauges, and testing instruments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office experience with CAD or ERP system will be an advantage.
- A team player with a positive, customer-focused attitude & the ability to work independently when needed.
- Willing to travel locally or regionally for field service or onsite support (approx. 30-50% regional travel).
