Assistant Engineer

Department Overview:

The Stage Business Unit (BU) at Akribis Systems houses teams spanning 4 international locations responsible for R&D, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Project Management of Akribis motion stage products.

We work on a wide range of products ranging from ultraprecision systems that achieve sub-nanometer-level precision for semiconductor applications, to large-format and highly dynamic gantry systems capable of accelerating hundreds of kilograms of mass in excess of 4 G's. Collectively, the BU delivered in excess of SGD 70 million worth of world-class motion stages to an international customer base in 2025, and is set for rapid growth in the years to come.

Stages, also known as motion systems, are complex mechatronics systems used to precisely position or move payloads. Precision stages form the heart of many industrial machines underpinning our modern society, including semiconductor lithography and metrology tools, smartphone production lines, CNC machine tools, 3D printers, and more.

The Stage Product Development (PDV) team, based in our Singapore office, focuses on bespoke and customized stage design. Within the team, the mechanical, electrical, and motion control engineers work together to turn customer requirements into products ready for manufacture. Within the BU, the PDV team collaborates closely with stage manufacturing, project management, R&D teams, and teams located at Akribis global factories and offices, during various phases of the product life cycle. In the wider Akribis organization, the PDV team partners with the sales and field service teams to ensure commercial success of our products.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Generate 2D part drawing and other CAD format from SolidWorks model
• Generate 2D cable drawing from a set template
• Ensure drawings comply with the company's standard
• Update existing drawings (e.g., amend errors, update template, add details etc.)
• Assist in generating engineering interface drawings
• Assist in BOM release (e.g., check BOM details such as part number, quantity, OM, manufacturer and ensure proper BOM linkage within Akribis Systems)
• Assist in completing assembly and testing plan by liaising with manufacturing team
• Prepare assembly and testing requirement forms based on customer's requirement
• Generate work instructions with designer's input
• Maintain and organise project documentation until project closure
• Support basic troubleshooting at production level
• Perform basic engineering calculations to support design validation and documentation
• Any other tasks assigned by the superior

Qualifications:

• Candidate must possess at least a Diploma in mechanical or electrical engineering
• Fresh graduates with relevant knowledge in their course of study are welcome to apply

Requirements:

• Applicants without experience but with good learning ability are welcome to apply

Skillset(s) Requirements:

• Ability to read and interpret mechanical and/or electrical engineering drawings
• Proficiency in SolidWorks is preferred
• Proficiency in GD&T will be advantageous
