Job Description

Job Summary

The jobholder (2-year contract) is the team lead and supports the HOD to lead the Youth Mentoring Office and deliver mentoring programmes for different segments of youths and beneficiaries. He/She is responsible for the strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of programmes and engagements by YMO that equip our youth to be resilient, future-ready and employable.

The role also involves driving engagement and growth across the youth ecosystem, developing partnerships, and grooming mentees and mentors in the community.

The jobholder is expected to work from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on weekdays and may be required to work over weekends and public holidays to support organisation events. Although the jobholder is largely expected to work in an indoor environment, occasional travel for meetings and programme visits is expected.

Key Responsibility Areas

Strategic and Partnership Management

a. Identify service gaps to address issues in employment and employability, trends for Malay Muslim youth and youth mentoring arising at the community, national and global issues.

b. Build network of professional partnerships across agencies, including M3 Towns, CLF Partners, Corporate Partners, and institutions to provide seamless mentoring programmes.

c. Oversee the FA3 Secretariat duties including liaising with FA3 Chairman and partners to ensure strategic alignment and delivery of outcomes.

d. Develop workplans and operational strategies for YMO in alignment with MENDAKI and FA3.

e. Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., Communications, Partnerships, and Operations) to ensure alignment of messaging, branding, and workplan objectives.

f. Explore innovation and funding opportunities to expand the reach and sustainability of mentoring programmes and Future Ready initiatives.

Programme Development and Management

a. Operationalise governance framework, policies and procedures for Youth Mentoring Office (YMO).

b. Oversee audit on service quality to ensure compliance with mentoring programme fidelity and policies.

c. Oversee implementation of professional development programmes within YMO.

d. Assess capability requirements to ensure the successful delivery of programmes.

e. Lead the evaluation of mentoring programmes by YMO for YM and FA 3.

f. Lead resolution of operational issues across YMO.

g. Operationalise changes to priority service areas for YMO.

h. Oversee the implementation of the YM's vision, values and mission within the YMO team.

Team Leadership and Management

a. Provide leadership, direction, and mentorship to the Team Leads of YMO and Youth Spaces (YS) to ensure strategic alignment and operational excellence.

b. Set clear performance goals, monitor progress, and provide developmental feedback to build high-performing teams.

c. Lead workforce planning and budgeting to ensure optimal resource allocation and efficiency.

d. Oversee budget management, utilisation, and reporting for all Future Ready Work initiatives.

e. Foster a collaborative, innovative, and mission-driven team culture aligned with MENDAKI's organisational values and strategic direction.


Requirements

a. Relevant degree from a recognised institution preferred.

b. 6-8 years of relevant experience in youth mentoring, youth psychology and youth engagement.

c. Proven leadership experience in strategic planning, programme management, and partnership development.

d. Strong understanding of workforce trends, community development, and digital engagement strategies.

e. Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and presentation skills.

f. Meticulous, resourceful, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environment.

g. Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and deliver measurable outcomes.
