Job Description

Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Merchandising Creative leads the merchandising strategy, product development, retail assortment planning and visual merchandising to drive revenue growth and enhance guest experience. The role oversees sourcing, vendor partnerships, budgeting, sales performance, and profitability while ensuring products align with brand objectives, market trends, and guest preferences. The incumbent also champions the development of exclusive merchandise and uses data-driven insights to optimize product offerings and create memorable guest experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Merchandising Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and execute the overall merchandising strategy that is aligned with the brand and customer experience goals.
  • Analyze market trends, customer preferences, and competitive offerings to create innovative and appealing product lines.

Product Development & Sourcing

  • Collaborate with design, licensing, and external vendors to develop exclusive, high-quality products.
  • Oversee sourcing, negotiation, and procurement of merchandise from local and international suppliers.
  • Ensure that products meet quality standards and comply with safety regulations.
  • Champion the creation of exclusive, limited-edition products that encourage purchases and create lasting memories for guests.
  • Ensure that the product selection enhances the guest experience and aligns with their expectations.
  • Analyze guest feedback and sales data to continuously improve the merchandising mix.

Visual Merchandising

  • Ensure that visual merchandising of the stores adhered to guidelines
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams on re-zoning ensure profitability
  • Guide, plan with VM team on all events and launch execution
  • Ensure VM spend is within budget allocated

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline.
  • 10 years of relevant experience in the tourism or hospitality industry.
  • Experience in successfully developing and creating sustainable and/or educational product lines.
  • Ability to influence at all levels of the organization to drive results and successfully manage competing demands in a dynamic environment.
  • Strategic in mindset with a high level of commercial awareness and be on top of the trends relating to market dynamics, customer base and competition.
  • Strong leadership capability in building high performing and collaborative teams, and fostering diverse and creative ideas on products and services.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and analytical skills.
