We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our Partnership Development Department as Assistant Director/Deputy Director (Partnership Development - Strategy). This leadership role will focus on building and guiding the strategic backbone of our fundraising programmes, with a particular emphasis on the Capital Campaign, major gifts, family offices, foundations, and grants.
This role is ideal for someone with a proven track record in fundraising, business development, or philanthropy strategywho also thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments. The candidate should be a strong individual contributor capable of complex strategic work, while also leading and mentoring a sub-team to drive excellence, innovation, and growth.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement strategic frameworks, tools and SOPs for donor research, cultivation, and stewardship across all fundraising verticals.
- Lead the strategic planning for the Gallerys Capital Campaign (launching in 2026), including prospect segmentation, donor journey mapping, gift pyramids, and campaign governance.
- Identify and build strategies for new revenue and partnership opportunities, particularly across family offices, philanthropic foundations, and institutional grants.
- Drive research, proposal development, and impact reporting for major donors and grant-making institutions.
- Champion the use of data, CRM systems, and performance metrics to support donor cultivation and campaign success.
Capital Campaign (2026 Launch)
- Shape the vision, structure, and roadmap for the Gallerys multi-year Capital Campaign.
- Lead the planning and development of campaign collateral, including case statements, funding proposals, and donor presentations.
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholdersincluding curatorial, programming, and senior management teamsto align fundraising efforts with institutional goals.
- Track and monitor campaign progress against key performance indicators.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and mentor a sub-team focused on Family Offices, Foundations, and Grantsincluding a Senior Manager, Manager, and Assistant Manager.
- Guide team members to deliver high-quality research, donor strategies, proposals, and reporting.
- Build a culture of strategic thinking, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with the Deputy Director overseeing Corporate and Patron teams to ensure alignment and collaboration across donor verticals.
- Support cross-functional initiatives and partnerships with relevant public agencies, community organisations, and private donors.
- Represent the Gallery at high-level meetings and donor engagements where strategic insight is required.
Job Requirements
- Minimum 8 to 12 years of experience in fundraising, partnerships, philanthropy, or strategic business developmentpreferably within the arts, cultural, non-profit, or adjacent sectors.
- Strong strategic planning, campaign management, and team leadership capabilities.
- Demonstrated success in securing significant gifts or partnerships from philanthropic foundations, major donors, or institutional funders.
- Excellent writing and presentation skills, with experience in proposal development and donor-facing communications.
- Proven ability to think analytically and creatively, and to translate strategy into systems, processes, and action.
- Comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels, with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends, if required.
