Job Description

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The Assistant Director (Media and Publications) of the Corporate Communications Department shall develop strategies to shape and brand Changi General Hospital (CGH) positively as a caring hospital trusted by patients and staff, renowned for its clinical excellence and innovation. He/she shall cultivate relationships and build rapport with key internal stakeholders as well as with editors/journalists to garner positive media coverage for the hospital. He/she is also a key team member in leading crisis communications and issues management and will extend communications-related counsel and support to CGH Senior Management and CGH spokespeople during issues and crises. He/she will support public education communications efforts across integrated communications platforms, focusing on strategic CGH initiatives, and providing guidance and working with various stakeholders to align the narrative and messaging for CGH.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategise and develop effective media plans and tactics including pitching strategic stories and features for earned media coverage to achieve organisational objectives.
  • Plan and drive positive media coverage through CGH's clinical expertise and areas of focus through media publicity.
  • Vet changes to policies and procedures.
  • Oversee publications strategy and plan
  • Develop integrated communications plans to communicate the hospital's key messages to its stakeholders through various platforms.
  • Support public education projects, providing guidance and working with various stakeholders to align the narrative and messaging for CGH.
  • Evaluate communication outcomes achieved and refine strategies to improve communication outcomes.
  • Other projects as assigned, e.g. remodelling comms and EPIC comms
  • Build up a team with strong ownership and pride towards communications initiatives achieved for the hospital.
  • Develop team members through on-the-job training, guidance and mentorship
  • Review work of media and publications, and branding and events team members
  • Proactive management of issues and crises to manage public perceptions and to address distortions, rumours, untruths, misinformation and smears if any.
  • Extend communications-related counsel and support to CGH Senior Management to mitigate potential internal communications or social media issues
  • Capability building
  • Participate in cluster-level meetings and committees to keep abreast of new cluster initiatives and best practices

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree preferably in Business or Communications related fields
  • At least 10 - 12 years in a Communication role with at least 4 years in a supervisory role
  • Working experience in both in-house/corporate and agency, desirable
  • Campaign planning experience and disciplined project management
  • Gets strategy, and demonstrates creativity
  • Versatile and confident writer, experienced writing for different formats and channels
  • Interest in AI, data and analytics, digital platforms and content - their applications in comms, and implications to comms.
  • Comfortable navigating and moving things forward with limited info
  • Critical thinker, respectful speaker
  • Leader, team player and collaborator
  • Positive attitude, and resilient under pressure
  • Resourceful, solution-oriented mindset
