Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Mechanical discipline of Technical Services Engineering.
  • Support enhancements, advise on maintenance and troubleshooting regimes and handle configuration control to ensure safe and reliable ride and show equipment.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the department's strategic plans, initiatives and standard operating procedures.
  • Establish close partnerships with ride and show vendors, other Universal Parks and RWS business units to positively influence ride safety, reliability and quality.
  • Lead the engineering validation and reliability centered maintenance analysis of all amusement ride and show equipment.
  • Oversee the review and execution of OEM Service Bulletins.
  • Work hand-in-hand with the Controls Engineering team to oversee installation, key troubleshooting efforts, reliability improvements and major upgrades of amusement ride and show equipment, including mechanical components, structures, pneumatics, hydraulics, gas, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards (Universal's specifications, ASTM, EN13814 and BCA Amusement Ride Standards), including overseeing testing where necessary.
  • Perform research and implement solutions for Predictive Maintenance technology to improve operational reliability of rides.
  • Contribute and approve engineering reports, development of mechanical analysis, engineering drawings and repair schemes e.g. weld repairs.
  • Perform high-level inspection and condition survey tasks to supplement routine scheduled inspections (by others).
  • Assume a Senior Duty Manager role from time to time supporting the wider Technical Services operations.
  • Understand Singapore Amusement Ride Safety Regulations and take up the role of BCA Ride Manager when appropriate.

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Mechanical / Manufacturing / Oil & Gas / Theme Park industries, with at least 4 years in a managerial capacity.
  • Previous experience of fabrication, machining, welding and/or Project Management will be an advantage.
  • Proficient in engineering and fault analysis and experience with installation and commissioning of complex Mechanical Systems.
  • Knowledge of CAD software (AutoCad/Solidworks) is preferred.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, concisely and persuasively with a wide range of technical personnel.
  • Able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously and meet dynamic demands.
  • Resilient, adaptable and able to work through issues and provide solutions in a challenging and fast paced environment.
  • Able to work at height and willing to take the rides, from time to time.
  • Able to perform shift work, including on weekends and public holidays.
