Role Summary
Reporting to the Finance Director, the Assistant Controller will oversee all accounting and financial operations of the APAC management companies. This role is pivotal in managing the firm's pass-through expense structure, ensuring accurate financial reporting, adherence to local regulatory framework and maintaining robust internal controls.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the Hong Kong & Singapore (APAC) management company accounting function for a growing multi-strategy, multi-manager hedge fund.
- Create controls and oversee the month-end close process, accounts payable, payroll, cash management, review of management packs and regulatory reporting processes.
- Work with and report to the Finance Director in London, coordinate on global processes for the international management companies and consolidation to US group.
- Manage service providers and create KPI's and metrics to build and measure accountability.
- Lead on APAC annual audit and financial statements.
- Oversee indirect tax (GST) quarterly reporting, work with the Head of Tax for the annual corporation tax filings and deferred tax calculations.
- Work with APAC COO and FP&A team to assist with the APAC financial planning and analysis (budgeting/forecasting) needs of a rapidly growing asset manager.
- Partner with the fund accounting team to implement and ensure adherence to processes for expense management given the firm's pass-through structure.
- Be a key partner with tax and compliance functions to address all APAC regulatory reporting related requirements.
- Work with fund accounting and product control team for local Singapore VCC reporting requirements.
Requirements
- 5 to 10 years of relevant accounting/finance experience, including experience managing teams.
- Industry experience, preferably at a hedge fund.
- Certified Public Accountant (or equivalent designation) and public/private accounting is preferred.
- Knowledge of SG FRS, HK FRS, US GAAP and/or IFRS.
- Experience with Workday or a similar ERP is preferred.
- High attention to detail and a mindset focused on controls.
- Ability to work at a high growth firm in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with a wide range of departments and offices, including US and UK.
- Experience building technology tools/coding a plus.
Location: Singapore or Hong Kong (in office, Singapore preferred)
