Job Description

Job Purpose:

To support the Commercial Manager in overseeing project finances, contracts, and procurement to ensure projects are delivered within budget, in compliance with contract terms, and aligned with company objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the commercial and contractual management of construction projects, including cost planning, procurement, and contract administration.
  • Prepare interim payment applications, valuation of variations, and cost forecasts to ensure financial control.
  • Support the procurement of subcontractors and suppliers, including tender analysis, contract negotiations, and award recommendations.
  • Monitor and track project costs, budgets, and cash flow to ensure financial performance is maintained.
  • Review and interpret contract terms, supporting the Commercial Manager in managing entitlements, claims, and potential disputes.
  • Assist with final account preparation and settlement.
  • Collaborate with project and site teams to ensure alignment between commercial and operational functions.
  • Prepare and maintain commercial reports, including cost/value reconciliations and progress claims.
  • Contribute to risk identification and assist in developing mitigation strategies.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, subcontractors, clients, and consultants.

Requirements:

  • Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Building, Construction Management, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in a quantity surveying or assistant commercial role within the construction industry.
  • Solid understanding of construction contracts and procurement processes.
  • Experience in cost management, contract administration, and variation claims.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative team approach.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and cost management software
