Reports To: Production Manager

Looking to move beyond restaurant hours and build a long term career in food innovation

We are seeking a passionate Assistant R&D Chef to join our central kitchen team. This role is ideal for chefs who want to apply their culinary skills in product development, enjoy structured working hours, and spend more time with family while continuing to grow professionally.

You will work closely with production and sales teams to develop scalable, high quality products for retail and foodservice markets.

Key Responsibilities

Product Development

  • Develop and test new recipes aligned with market needs.

  • Adapt dishes for large scale production while maintaining taste and consistency.

  • Support innovation across multiple cuisines.

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure products meet food safety, quality, and compliance standards.

  • Conduct trials and resolve issues during development and production.

Production Integration

  • Work with Production Manager to ensure recipes are operationally feasible.

  • Train production staff on new processes and standards.

Customer and Market Collaboration

  • Support product presentations, tastings, and customisation requests.

  • Gather feedback from sales teams to refine products.

Documentation

  • Maintain clear records of recipes, specifications, and testing results.

Work Schedule

  • 5 day work week on a rotating schedule

  • 10 hour shifts including 1 hour break

  • Structured environment, no late night service, minimal weekend work

Who We Are Looking For

  • Minimum 5 years culinary experience, preferably with exposure to Chinese cuisine.

  • Young, energetic chefs who want to transition into R&D and food manufacturing.

  • Curious and open to learning new cuisines and product formats.

  • Strong understanding of food safety and consistency.

  • Comfortable working cross functionally with production and commercial teams.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Culinary Arts, Food Science, or related field preferred.

  • Experience in product development or central kitchen environment is an advantage.
