Job Description

Position Overview

The Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling, testing, and troubleshooting complex mechanical, electrical, electronic, optoelectronic, and laser assembly systems in accordance with engineering specifications and quality standards. The role requires the ability to read technical drawings and schematics, utilize precision tools and instruments, and work closely with engineering and production teams to ensure efficient and accurate assembly of products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical, electrical, optical, and fiber optic assembly operations.
  • Execute testing and troubleshooting activities according to established procedures.
  • Perform Fiber Loop Assembly (FLA) manufacturing and assembly processes.
  • Carry out fiber bonding, sealing, and curing processes using approved materials and procedures.
  • Conduct optical fiber routing, looping, and cable management according to engineering drawings.
  • Perform fiber stripping, cleaning, cleaving, handling, polishing, and end-face inspection of optical fibers.
  • Support fiber collimation and optical alignment activities to meet product performance requirements.
  • Operate vacuum systems and related manufacturing equipment.
  • Perform bulk and precision cleaning of parts and assemblies.
  • Complete packing activities and ensure products are prepared for shipment.
  • Accurately complete electronic production records and documentation.
  • Work with production leadership to improve processing times and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship, cleanliness, and quality.
  • Follow company policies and procedures related to safety, quality, and material control.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by recommending and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support the introduction of new products and manufacturing processes.
  • Train and support fellow employees in accordance with company training requirements and work instructions.
  • Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams to achieve common objectives.
  • Remain flexible and adaptable to support evolving business needs across departments.
  • Carry out other reasonable duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • GCE N Level, NITEC, Technical Certificate, or equivalent qualification.
  • Diploma holders in Engineering or related technical disciplines are welcome to apply.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or process-driven environment.
  • Experience in Fiber Loop Assembly (FLA) manufacturing and assembly processes is preferred.
  • Experience in fiber bonding, sealing, curing, optical alignment, polishing, and inspection is advantageous.
  • Candidates with experience in fiber optics, optoelectronics, semiconductor manufacturing, cable assembly, precision assembly, electronics manufacturing, or related industries are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to record and maintain production data accurately.
  • Comfortable working with test and inspection equipment.
  • Ability to learn new equipment and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on quality and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work in a cleanroom and precision manufacturing environment.
