Artefacts Handler

Responsibilities

• Assist with the receipt, accessioning, and tagging of new acquisitions.
• Support artefact movements for exhibitions, conservation labs, and storage facilities.
• Update collection information in digital systems
• Liaise with contractors and art handlers for artefact logistics, fumigation setup, and cleaning.
• Manage artefact handling during stocktake exercises and other inventory projects.
• Maintain the supply of packing and storage materials, sourcing vendors as needed.
• Assist in the digitization of acquisition documents and other archival activities.
• Perform preventive conservation checks on artefacts and storage areas.
• Assist in taking photographs using digital cameras (DSLRs)
• Assist in physical checking of new artefacts
• Supervise moving of artefacts from other locations
• Off-field inspection of artefacts & assist in supervision of movers
