Designation: Aquatics Director

Division: K-12

Location: Lakeside

Reports to: Athletics Director/ Secondary School Principals

Works collaboratively with: Teachers, Principal's/Vice-Principals, ECA & Camps Manager/ Head of Facilities, PE Team

Assigns task to / supervises: Swim Coaches and Swimming Instructors

KEY ACCOUNTABILITY (Main purpose of this job):

The Aquatics Director acts as a Head Coach , and pool manager. Responsibilities will include: (a) Planning and overseeing the School's aquatics programs and services. (b) Ensuring the quality and related safety of the programs (before, during, and after school). (c) Acting as the aquatic lead by administering, supervising and promoting the CIS swimming program, as well as providing training opportunities for staff in swimming instruction and coaching. (d) Supervising the day-to-day operations of the pool facility, staff, supplies, and equipment.

The Aquatics Director provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and instructional excellence across all CIS aquatics programmes. The role ensures safe, high-quality, and developmentally appropriate swimming experiences for students from Early Years to Grade 12, while managing pool operations, staff, budgets, and compliance.

This role combines programme leadership, coaching expertise, and facility management, aligned with CIS's educational philosophy, wellbeing priorities, and IB-informed approach to student development.

REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE:

Qualifications:

  • Valid Physical Education degree, Aquatics Programming and/or Teaching Certification.

  • Must be certified as a Water Safety Instructor or equivalent from home country or place of record.

  • Must have previous experience in a management or supervisory position at a similar aquatic facility and program. Minimum of 2 years experience.

  • Must have current certification in standard first aid and/or equivalent.

  • Must have current certification in American Red Cross, C.P.R. and/or equivalent.

  • Must have lifeguard certification.

  • Strong team player that has excellent interpersonal, management, and leadership skills.
