Application Support Engineer (Java, SQL)

Functional Support:

. Understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements.

. Analyze and design new enhancements and/or improvements to existing functionalities.

. Perform data mining and testing to ensure enhancements and/or existing functionalities meet business needs.

. Work with project leads, users, and developers to improve processes and functionality.

Technical Support:

. Assist with Java application development and troubleshooting post-implementation.

. Write and optimize SQL queries for reporting and data analysis.

. Support client project leads and users with technical issues and work on improving system performance.

Problem Solving:

. Identify and fix technical issues related to Java/Cobol applications and SQL databases post-implementation.

. Analyze operational problems and suggest improvements.

Teamwork:

. Work closely with both technical teams and business project leads/users to ensure smooth communication.

. Contribute to system improvements and process automation.

Skills and Requirements:

. Experience with Java programming.

. Experience with SQL databases and query writing.

. Willingness to learn Cobol programming.

. Good functional business analysis skills and attention to detail.

. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

. Strong communication skills to work with both technical and non-technical teams such as client project leads and users.

. A team player who is eager to learn and grow.

. Experience with Enterprise Java-related backend frameworks (e.g., Spring, Hibernate, JPA).

. Experience with frontend UI development, particularly with React and TypeScript.

. Experience with Microsoft Excel VBA and Excel Macros.

Qualifications:

. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

. At least 1 year of experience working with Java and SQL.

. Experience in BAU (Business-As-Usual) support.

. At least 1 year of experience in Implementation (SDLC) and Change Request-related activities.

. At least 1 year of experience in Operations/BAU support.

. Experience in technical support or a similar role is a plus.
