Application Engineer (Contract, Power Generation) HYN

Join a global engineering environment supporting large-scale power generation and data centre projects across APAC. This role is ideal for an experienced Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineer who enjoys technical problem-solving, project execution and working across customers, suppliers and internal engineering teams.

Job Description

• Support end-to-end engineering execution for power generation projects, from project award through installation, testing and commissioning.
• Develop mechanical and electrical engineering solutions for diesel genset enclosure systems.
• Work closely with sales teams to define technical scope and review customer specifications and tender documents.
• Develop technical specifications, equipment requirements and scope of supply.
• Coordinate with factories, suppliers and contractors to align technical requirements and obtain quotations.
• Develop electrical, automation and mechanical designs, including drawings, schematics, P&IDs and technical documentation.
• Perform engineering calculations and technical evaluations for equipment selection, system sizing and performance.
• Review and approve engineering documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements and relevant standards.
• Support procurement activities, supplier development and purchase requisition processes.
• Provide technical support and troubleshoot electrical, automation and mechanical issues throughout project execution.
• Support onsite installation, testing, commissioning and Integrated Systems Testing (IST) when required.
• Drive design reviews, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement initiatives across projects.

Requirements

• Degree/Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or a related engineering discipline.
• Relevant engineering experience in power generation, marine/shipping, automation, oil & gas, industrial equipment or similar industries.
• Experience with electro-mechanical systems and engineering project execution.
• Strong ability to interpret and develop technical drawings, schematics, layouts and engineering documentation.
• Knowledge of either electrical or mechanical systems, with the ability to work across disciplines.
• Experience with engineering calculations, equipment sizing or technical evaluations.
• Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD software.
• Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work with customers, suppliers, contractors and internal teams.
• Willingness to travel overseas or support onsite project activities when required.
• Candidates with direct diesel genset, data centre, switchgear or power protection experience will have an added advantage.
