Application Engineer

ATS is currently seeking a suitable candidate to assist with the design, build, installation, commissioning and support of automation and control projects for regional manufacturers using different programming languages, which could be both part of a team or individually subject to customer requirements.This role will work from user requirements specifications to create functional design specifications, before taking part in factory acceptance tests, site installation, commissioning, production of operation and training manuals, and customer training. On completion of each project you will serve as part of a support group maintaining deployed systems to ensure their operability within the production environment.

Education (Required)
Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or related field of study. The right candidate has up to 5 years experience in a similar role. Knowledge of Manufacturing Processes, MES & Industrial IT would also be advantageous in this role. An ability to self-manage the delivery of automation projects in line with an agreed FDS is critical to this position. The candidate should be an excellent communicator and be able to present ideas clearly and effectively both internally and externally. Candidates should be motivated and capable of the development and application of skills in new and existing technologies. Enthusiasm and a desire for success are character traits we are seeking as is the ability to show leadership and sensible decision making when required.

Technical Requirements

• Minimum 4 to 6 years of experience in the design, development and maintenance of cross-platform solutions for high-performance, high-availability software systems.
• Excellent Knowledge of PLC, SCADA (Wincc or Ignition) and MES preferable.
• Experience with different databases is essential (MS SQL/ Oracle/ MySQL ...etc.)
• Experience with Machine Communication for manufacturing industries.

Good To have knowledge

• Experience in configuring, building and redistributing of third-party libraries for embedded/Linux and Microsoft Windows.
  - Web Development experience such as HTML5, JQuery, JavaScript, ExtJS, SignalR is a plus
• Mid level of proficiency in Microsoft .NET technologies (C#) Mid level of proficiency in JAVA, ASP .NET and web technologies Windows programming in C#, Visual C++, MS Visual Studio, Visual Basic Experience in the development, distribution and maintenance of software systems for Microsoft Windows. Scripting with Bash/Python.
• Knowledge of MES is a plus
• Knowledge of SimaticIT or Opcenter is preferable
