Job Summary
The APAC Trunking Procurement Manager is responsible for regional sourcing and management of trunking and linehaul transportation partners for a 3PL network across Asia-Pacific. The role focuses on securing reliable capacity, optimizing freight costs, and ensuring carrier performance meets client SLAs in a multi-customer, high-volume environment.
Key Responsibilities
Trunking & Carrier Procurement
- Develop and execute APAC trunking procurement strategies to support 3PL network and client requirements.
- Source, onboard, and manage trucking and linehaul partners across multiple countries and lanes.
- Lead RFQs, tenders, rate negotiations, and contract renewals with transport vendors.
- Ensure competitive pricing, scalable capacity, and service reliability during peak and off-peak periods.
Supplier & Performance Management
- Manage regional carrier relationships and performance governance.
- Monitor KPIs including on-time performance, cost adherence, capacity fulfillment, and service quality.
- Drive corrective actions and manage escalations related to service failures, claims, or disputes.
- Maintain approved carrier panels and contingency options to mitigate supply risk.
Cost Control & Network Optimization
- Analyze trunking spend, lane performance, and utilization to identify cost optimization opportunities.
- Support network design initiatives, lane consolidation, and routing efficiency improvements.
- Partner with finance on budgeting, forecasting, and cost recovery models for client contracts.
Stakeholder & Client Support
- Work closely with operations, commercial, and country teams to align procurement strategies with client SLAs.
- Support new client onboarding, contract implementations, and regional network expansions.
- Provide procurement input for client pricing, tenders, and solution design.
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, regulatory requirements, and ethical standards.
- Maintain contract governance, rate controls, and documentation across APAC markets.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong negotiation and commercial skills in transportation procurement.
- Deep understanding of APAC trucking, trunking, and linehaul markets.
- Ability to manage multiple vendors, lanes, and stakeholders in a 3PL setting.
- Strong analytical and cost management capabilities.
- Effective communication in a regional, matrix organization.
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field.
- 7-10 years of experience in transportation or logistics procurement, preferably within a 3PL environment.
- Proven experience managing regional trunking or linehaul sourcing across APAC.
- Strong contract management and vendor governance experience.
- Proficiency in TMS, procurement systems, and MS Office.
- Willingness to travel within the APAC region.
