AI Risk Director - Top Global Bank

A leading financial institution is hiring an AI Risk Lead to provide deep technical expertise across its rapidly expanding AI ecosystem. Sitting within the Data & AI Risk function, this is a senior second-line role focused on ensuring AI platforms, models and emerging AI capabilities are designed and operated within the Bank's risk appetite.

You'll act as the technical risk SME across AI/ML, GenAI, foundation models, RAG architectures and agentic AI, working closely with Technology, Architecture, Engineering and Security teams. The mandate is not purely policy-driven - you'll translate AI risk requirements into practical technical controls and challenge architecture, deployment and implementation decisions where risks are not adequately addressed.

A key part of the role will be defining technical control expectations across areas including AI security, access and permissions, data protection, model behaviour, monitoring, observability, resilience and traceability. The role will also contribute to regulatory engagement and the continued evolution of the AI Risk Framework as technology and regulatory expectations develop.

We're looking for a senior technical profile with significant experience across AI engineering, technology architecture, AI security, machine learning, AI governance or technology risk, together with hands-on understanding of AI/ML systems and complex technology platforms. Financial services experience is useful but not essential; backgrounds in technology firms, cloud providers or AI platform companies are highly relevant.
