Our Healthcare & Life Sciences (HCLS) practice works with healthcare providers, payers, life sciences companies, investors and public sector stakeholders to define, finance and deliver sustainable healthcare strategies across Asia Pacific.
With healthcare systems under increasing cost, access and outcome pressures, we are expanding our Healthcare Strategy & Financing capability and are seeking an Associate Director to help lead complex engagements, deepen client relationships and build our market presence.
Job Description
As an Associate Director, you will operate as a trusted advisor to senior healthcare leaders and investors, leading strategy engagements with a strong healthcare financing, funding and economic lens. You will bridge strategy, policy, and financial sustainability, supporting clients across healthcare system transformation, provider strategy, publicprivate partnerships, and investment decisionmaking.
This role has clear expectations around engagement leadership, business development, and team development.
The role primarily involves the following:
1. Client Engagement & Delivery Leadership
- Lead and oversee the endtoend delivery of healthcare strategy and financing engagements, ensuring highquality outputs and client impact.
- Design and lead healthcare system and provider strategies, incorporating:
- Healthcare financing and funding models
- Financial sustainability and affordability analysis
- Investment cases, business cases and economic evaluations
- Act as the primary daytoday client interface, engaging senior executives, public sector leaders, and investment stakeholders.
- Translate complex financial, policy and clinical considerations into clear, decisionready insights.
2. Healthcare Financing & Economics Focus
- Support clients onhealthcare financingrelated topics, such as:
- Provider financial sustainability and turnaround
- Health system funding models and reforms
- Publicprivate partnership (PPP) structuring and evaluation
- Healthcare infrastructure and service investment cases
- Economic and financial feasibility studies
- Integrate health economics, costeffectiveness, and valueformoney considerations into strategy and policy recommendations.
- Work closely across KPMG teams and borders, where relevant, to deliver integrated solutions.
3. Business Development & Market Leadership
- Support Partners and Directors in originating and converting business development opportunities, including proposal development and client presentations.
- Build and maintain strong seniorlevel client relationships, positioning KPMG as a trusted healthcare strategy and financing advisor.
- Contribute to thought leadership on healthcare financing, system sustainability, and investment trends in Asia Pacific.
- Actively participate in market engagement activities (events, roundtables, publications).
4. Team Leadership & Practice Development
- Lead and mentor Managers, Assistant Managers and Associates, fostering strong technical capability and professional growth.
- Take responsibility for quality assurance, coaching, and onthejob development across engagements.
- Contribute to the development of KPMG's Healthcare Strategy & Financing offerings, methodologies and tools.
The ideal candidate should have:
- At least 8 to 12 years of experience in healthcare strategy, healthcare financing, health economics, or equivalent healthcare advisory roles
- Strong experience in healthcare strategy with a financial, funding or investment lens (public or private sector).
- Proven track record leading complex, multistakeholder engagements in healthcare
- Experience working with senior executives, policymakers, investors or boards.
- Excellent analytical, problemsolving and communication skills.
- Have background in:
- Healthcare provider strategy or financing
- Health system reform or policy advisory
- Healthcare infrastructure or investment advisory
- Consulting experience within Big 4, strategy firms, or specialist healthcare advisory.
- Postgraduate qualifications (e.g. MBA, MPH, MPA, Health Economics, Finance) are an advantage
