What the day will look like

People Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data engineers, analysts, and architects, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Provide regular feedback, coaching, and career development support to team members.
  • Coordinate resource planning, capacity management, and workload balancing across projects.

Strategy, Roadmap & Planning

  • Partner with business and technology leaders to define and evolve thedata strategy and roadmapfor Health Solutions.
  • Translate strategic objectives into clear, prioritized initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals and timelines.
  • Own the planning and sequencing of data projects, including estimation, risk management, and dependency management.

Stakeholder Management & Communication

  • Act as the primary point of contact for senior leadership on data initiatives, providing clear status updates, risks, and recommendations.
  • Communicate complex data concepts and trade-offs in a concise, business-friendly manner to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Facilitate alignment between business, actuarial, technology, and analytics teams to ensure shared understanding and expectations.

Delivery Oversight & Governance

  • Oversee the delivery of data solutions, ensuring they meet quality, performance, and compliance standards.
  • Champion and enforcedata governance, data quality, and securitypractices across projects.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs for data initiatives and team performance, driving continuous improvement.

Technical Direction & Best Practices

  • Provide high-level guidance on data architecture, data modeling, and data platform design (e.g., data warehouses, lakehouses, pipelines).
  • Ensure the team applies modern engineering practices and leverages appropriate technologies (such as Databricks, cloud platforms, and BI tools).
  • Stay informed on industry trends and emerging technologies and work with architects/engineers to assess their relevance to our roadmap.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • 8+ yearsof experience working with data-focused teams in analytics, data engineering, or related functions.
  • 5+ yearsof experience inleading teams and managing stakeholdersin a data or technology environment.
  • Proven experience inpeople management, including mentoring, performance management, and team development.
  • Demonstrated success inowning and executing a data or analytics roadmap, including prioritization and planning.
  • Working knowledge of modern data platforms and tools (e.g., Databricks, cloud data services, SQL, Python) sufficient to guide teams and make informed decisions, even if not hands-on day to day.
  • Understanding ofdata governance, security, and privacyprinciples and their application in complex organizations.
  • Experience working with BI and analytics stakeholders using tools such as Power BI or Tableau.

Nice to haves:

  • Experience leading teams that integrateAI/MLcapabilities into data solutions.
  • Certifications related tocloud platforms, data management, or Databricks.
  • Exposure to health benefits data and domain
