We are a fast growing regional pet food distribution company headquartered in Singapore, distributing international pet food brands across Asia Pacific. The company operates in a regulated import environment and partners closely with overseas suppliers, logistics providers, and local distributors.
Role Overview
This role is the key finance partner to the Chairman/CFO, responsible for owning day-to-day accounting operations while contributing to financial control, compliance, and decision support.
The successful candidate must be hands-on, commercially minded, and comfortable operating in a fast-moving distribution business with inventory, import GST, and multi-currency transactions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Full-Set Accounting & Reporting
- Manage full-set accounts for Singapore entity (and related entities if applicable)
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing
- Prepare management accounts, P&L, balance sheet, and cashflow statements
- Ensure accurate inventory accounting (valuation, GRNI, landed cost allocation)
- Maintain general ledger, fixed assets, accruals, and provisions
2. GST, Tax & Statutory Compliance
- Prepare and file GST returns, including import GST reconciliation
- Liaise with external tax agents and auditors
- Support ACRA filings, audit schedules, and statutory reporting
- Ensure compliance with Singapore accounting standards and regulations
3. Cashflow, AP & AR Control (Critical for Distribution Business)
- Manage cashflow forecasting and working capital
- Oversee accounts receivable, credit control, and customer collections
- Oversee accounts payable, supplier payments, and payment scheduling
- Monitor FX exposure for overseas suppliers and imports
- Actively flag cashflow risks and inefficiencies to Chairman/CFO
4. Inventory, Imports & Cost Control
- Work closely with operations on Inventory movements, Stock adjustments and write-offs, Cost of goods sold (COGS) analysis
- Support financial tracking of pet food imports, permits, duties, and landed costs
- Ensure finance processes align with regulated food import requirements
(Operational execution handled elsewhere finance ensures accuracy and control)
5. Budgeting, Forecasting
- Assist CFO with annual budgeting and rolling forecasts
- Prepare variance analysis and business insights
- Support pricing, margin, and profitability analysis by brand or channel
- Step in as finance lead when required
6. Systems, Controls & Process Improvement
- Maintain and improve accounting processes and internal controls
- Work with ERP / accounting systems and Excel-based analysis
- Drive automation and efficiency improvements where possible
- Coordinate with external vendors (payroll, accounting firms, auditors)
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Professional qualification preferred (CA Singapore, ACCA, CPA)
- 5-8+ years of relevant accounting experience
- Strong experience in Full-set accounting, GST (including imports)Distribution, trading, or FMCG environment
- Experience working with inventory-heavy businesses is strongly preferred
