Role Overview
New Maritime Pte. Ltd. is a leading Singaporean ship management and marine fuel logistics company, owning and operating our own fleet of bunker barges with our in-house team.
We are seeking a hands-on Accountant with prior vessel accounting experience. This role combines vessel accounting, general accounting, budgeting, and cashflow management, with direct interaction with operations, commercial teams, and management.
Working Location: Tai Seng (5 mins walk from Tai Seng MRT)
Key Responsibilities
Vessel Accounting & Operations Finance
. Prepare and review monthly vessel P&L and management reports
. Review and monitor vessel operating expenses including bunkers, port charges, agency fees, and repairs & maintenance
. Ensure accurate cost allocation and accruals by vessel
. Work closely with operations and technical teams on vessel cost tracking and control
. Support management analysis on vessel profitability and cost variances
Budgeting & Forecasting
. Prepare and maintain annual vessel operating budgets
. Perform budget vs actual and variance analysis by vessel
. Support short-term reforecasting based on operational changes
. Support cashflow forecasting aligned with vessel operations
AR, AP & Cashflow Management
. Review and manage AR, AP and banking transactions, including GST and tax compliance
. Monitor invoicing, payment and collection cycles to ensure timeliness
. Liaise with sales, operations, clients and suppliers to resolve billing and payment issues
. Plan and manage AR/AP cashflow cycles to support daily operations
. Prepare and review AR/AP aging reports and key performance metrics
Banking & Working Capital
. Manage banking relationships, facilities and banker's guarantees
. Support invoice financing, trust receipts, letters of credit (LC) and related documentation
. Support working capital management and liquidity planning
General Accounting & Month-End Close
. Maintain full set of accounts including GL, AR, AP and fixed assets
. Perform month-end and year-end closing, including journal entries and accruals
. Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and schedules
. Support statutory audit, tax and GST filings
. Coordinate with external auditors on accounting matters
Controls, Compliance & Process Improvement
. Maintain and enhance internal controls over accounting processes
. Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies and audit requirements
. Identify process gaps and drive continuous improvement and automation initiatives
. Support ERP/system enhancements and ad-hoc finance projects
Qualifications & Experience
. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
. Minimum 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience
. Prior experience in vessel / shipping accounting preferred
. Experience with vessel cost planning, budgeting or forecasting
. Strong understanding of AR/AP, GST and withholding tax (WHT)
. Experience with ERP systems and strong Excel skills
. Familiarity with invoice financing, trust receipts and LC processes
. Hands-on and detail-oriented
. Able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
