Accountant (1 Year Contract)

Reporting to the Finance Manager / Financial Controller, this role will focus on month-end closing, consolidation, financial reporting and audit support. The successful candidate will also work closely with internal stakeholders to strengthen financial controls and improve existing finance processes.

What You'll Be Working On:

• Maintain complete and accurate financial records in accordance with applicable accounting standards and statutory requirements.
• Assess changes in accounting standards and determine the appropriate accounting treatment for business activities and transactions.
• Perform month-end closing and consolidation to support timely group and statutory reporting.
• Reconcile the accounting ledger against trading platforms and other source systems, investigating and resolving any discrepancies.
• Prepare accounting schedules and conduct monthly analytical reviews of financial performance and balance sheet movements.
• Support the preparation of monthly and quarterly reporting packages, annual financial statements and audit deliverables.
• Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, internal controls, reporting quality and operational efficiency.
• Support finance-related system enhancements, automation initiatives and business intelligence tools.
• Partner with Finance colleagues and business stakeholders to resolve accounting matters and support wider business objectives.

What We're Looking For:

• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in accounting, audit or financial reporting.
• Hands-on experience in month-end closing, reconciliations, financial reporting and audit support.
• Sound technical knowledge of accounting standards and the ability to determine appropriate accounting treatment.
• Experience using finance systems, Excel, automation or other digital tools to support accounting and reporting activities.
• Able to work independently, manage competing priorities and deliver accurately within tight deadlines.
• Clear communicator who works effectively with both Finance and non-Finance stakeholders.
• Commodity trading or mark-to-market accounting.
• Audit experience covering commodity trading businesses.
• Statutory audits, internal control reviews or group reporting submissions.
