Role Overview
The Academic Director is responsible for driving academic excellence across all programmes. This role provides academic leadership in teacher management, curriculum development, internal training systems, and multi-subject programme design aligned with the Singapore PSLE syllabus.
The role requires strong ownership, hands-on involvement, and the ability to translate academic vision into practical execution. The Academic Director works closely with teachers, academic coaches, operations, and marketing teams to ensure consistent teaching quality, strong learning outcomes, and a clear academic positioning of the academy.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Leadership & Teacher Management
. Lead, manage, and mentor teaching teams across multiple PSLE subjects
. Set academic standards, teaching expectations, and assessment benchmarks
. Conduct lesson observations, academic reviews, and teacher performance evaluations
. Provide structured feedback, coaching, and development plans for teachers
. Support teacher recruitment, interviews, onboarding, and probation evaluations
Curriculum & Programme Development
. Lead curriculum design and continuous improvement for PSLE subjects, including:
- Mathematics
- Science
- Chinese Language
. Ensure all teaching materials align with MOE syllabus, PSLE standards, and school examination requirements
. Develop structured schemes of work, lesson plans, worksheets, and assessments
. Design differentiated programmes for various learner profiles (foundation, core, advanced, exam-focused)
. Oversee academic quality control and consistency across centres
Academic Coach Training & Internal Capability Building
. Design and deliver training programmes for Academic Coaches / Learning Advisors on:
- PSLE subject structure and expectations
- Learning progression and common student bottlenecks
- Academic diagnosis and personalised learning pathway design
. Work closely with academic advisory and sales teams to ensure accurate academic positioning
. Provide academic input for complex parent consultations and learning plan discussions
Student Performance & Academic Strategy
. Monitor student progress, assessment data, and learning outcomes
. Analyse academic trends and recommend curriculum or instructional adjustments
. Develop targeted academic strategies for key PSLE levels, especially P4-P6
. Support academic intervention for complex or high-risk student cases
Parent Engagement, Talks & Live Sessions
. Conduct academic talks, parent workshops, and PSLE-related seminars
. Represent the academy in live streams, webinars, and online academic sharing sessions
. Collaborate with marketing teams to develop academically accurate content for campaigns and events
. Act as an academic spokesperson when required
Cross-Functional Collaboration
. Work closely with operations teams to ensure smooth academic execution
. Support marketing initiatives with academic insights, programme explanations, and content input
. Participate in management discussions related to academic strategy, programme development, and centre expansion
Requirements
. Bachelor's degree or above, preferably in Education or a relevant subject discipline
. Strong understanding of the Singapore PSLE system and MOE syllabus
. Proven experience in curriculum development, academic leadership, or senior teaching roles
. Experience managing, mentoring, and evaluating teachers
. Multi-subject understanding in Mathematics, Science, and/or Chinese Language is highly advantageous
. Strong presentation and communication skills, comfortable speaking to parents and large groups
. High level of initiative, ownership, and problem-solving ability
. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growth-oriented tuition environment
. Willingness to work weekends as required
