2D Animator for Music Video

This role is for a freelance 2D animator to create a 3 minute, 30 second animated music video for an original fantasy theme song. The animation should combine emotional storytelling with whimsical visuals, focusing on rich character expressions, cinematic transitions, and a magical color palette. The artistic direction calls for soft, fluid movement, avoiding stiff or overly sharp anime-style edges, while drawing inspiration from works such as Bee and PuppyCat, Witch Bunny Studio aesthetics, and lo-fi music video atmospheres. The project emphasizes short, cinematic cuts and visual effects such as sparkles and glow to bring the world of Dreampot Guardians to life. This is a single project with the possibility of ongoing collaborations. Remote work is fully supported.

Responsibilities

• Animate a 3:30 music video with expressive 2D character animation and cinematic storytelling.
• Create smooth transitions and varied short cuts to avoid static or repetitive sequences.
• Incorporate magical visual effects including sparkles, glow, and atmospheric flourishes.
• Develop a cohesive visual style consistent with whimsical and soft fantasy aesthetics.
• Ensure the animation aligns closely with the timing, tone, and emotional flow of the music track.

Skills and Requirements

• Proven portfolio of 2D animation projects, ideally including narrative or music-based work.
• Proficiency in animation tools such as Adobe Animate, Toon Boom Harmony, or equivalent software.
• Strong understanding of character performance, facial expressions, and emotional storytelling.
• Experience with cinematic editing in animation, using short cuts to enhance pacing and engagement.
