Alongside operational responsibilities, the successful candidate will contribute to chartering activities by monitoring freight markets, evaluating vessel employment opportunities and recommending options to maximise commercial returns. Commitment to accurate reporting, compliance and professional conduct.

Main Responsibilities

Coordinate daily vessel operations and voyage execution, including loading, discharge and compliance with charter party terms.
Liaise with masters, physical brokers, charterers, port agents, bunker suppliers and technical managers.
Monitor vessel schedules and performance, coordinate bunker arrangements and agent appointments, and resolve operational issues.
Maintain regular contact with physical brokers to gather market intelligence and identify cargo and vessel employment opportunities.
Prepare voyage estimates, assess trading markets and recommend employment options to maximise vessel returns.
Support chartering discussions, fixture preparation and charter party review.
Handle freight and hire invoicing, laytime calculations, claims and voyage account reconciliation.
Maintain accurate voyage records, track voyage profit and loss, and review actual performance against estimates.

Requirements

Degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping, or a related discipline.
1-3 years of relevant experience in vessel operations, preferably in dry bulk shipping.
Sound understanding of voyage operations, charter parties and post-fixture processes.
Strong interest in freight markets, chartering and the commercial factors affecting vessel earnings.
