Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Assistant Project Manager to support the planning, coordination, and successful delivery of construction projects in Singapore.

The successful candidate will assist the Project Manager in managing project schedules, costs, quality, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, and site activities while ensuring compliance with Singapore statutory requirements, safety regulations, and project specifications.

Candidates should have relevant construction experience in Singapore and a good understanding of local construction practices, regulations, authorities, and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Planning & Coordination

Assist the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and managing construction projects from commencement to completion.
Support the preparation and monitoring of project schedules, work programmes, and key milestones.
Coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and relevant authorities.
Monitor project progress and identify potential delays, risks, and issues.
Assist in resolving day-to-day project and site coordination matters.
Attend project coordination and progress meetings.

2. Site & Construction Management

Monitor construction activities to ensure works are carried out according to approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and project requirements.
Coordinate with site teams, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth project execution.
Conduct regular site inspections and monitor work progress.
Coordinate architectural, structural, and other construction trades.
Assist in resolving technical and construction-related issues.
Ensure works are properly coordinated and completed within the approved programme.

3. Singapore Regulatory & Statutory Compliance

Ensure project activities comply with applicable Singapore construction regulations, statutory requirements, codes, and standards.
Coordinate with relevant Singapore authorities and statutory agencies where required.
Ensure required submissions, inspections, permits, approvals, and documentation are properly followed up.
Maintain awareness of relevant BCA requirements and Singapore construction standards.

4. Cost & Contract Management

Assist in monitoring project budgets, costs, and financial performance.
Review subcontractor progress claims and supporting documentation.
Assist in evaluating quotations, variations, and subcontractor proposals.
Monitor variation orders, project instructions, and potential claims.
Coordinate procurement activities and monitor material deliveries.
Assist the Project Manager with contract administration and commercial matters.

5. Quality Management

Ensure construction works comply with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and contractual requirements.
Coordinate inspections, testing, and rectification of defects.
Monitor quality issues and ensure timely corrective actions.
Assist with quality documentation, inspection records, and project quality submissions.
Support project teams in achieving applicable Singapore project quality requirements.

6. Safety Management

Promote and maintain high standards of workplace safety on site.
Ensure construction activities comply with Singapore workplace safety requirements and company procedures.
Coordinate with the WSH/Safety team to identify and mitigate site risks.
Participate in safety meetings, inspections, toolbox meetings, and audits where required.
Ensure subcontractors comply with approved safety procedures and requirements.

7. Documentation & Reporting

Prepare and maintain project correspondence, meeting minutes, progress reports, and other project documentation.
Prepare weekly and monthly project status reports.
Track RFIs, technical submissions, shop drawings, material submissions, inspections, and approvals.
Maintain proper records of project changes, instructions, variations, and approvals.
Assist with preparation of project presentations and management reports.

Requirements

Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building, or a related discipline.
Minimum 3-7 years of relevant construction/project management experience in Singapore, depending on project complexity.
Good understanding of construction methods, project scheduling, contracts, and site coordination.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
Strong communication, coordination, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple project priorities.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Relevant Singapore professional certifications or construction-related qualifications will be an advantage.
