Finance Business Partner (Oil Trading) | Singapore

If you've spent years in audit or finance looking at oil trading businesses through a spreadsheet — reconciling P&L, questioning mark-to-market adjustments, signing off on numbers you didn't fully see come to life — this is your chance to step inside the room where it happens.

My client is an ambitious oil trading business looking for a Finance Business Partner to bridge the gap between the front office and finance. You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with traders and operators, understand how physical and paper positions translate into P&L, and become the finance voice that trading actually listens to — not just the one that checks their work after the fact.

What you'll actually be doing:

Getting close to daily trading P&L, VaR, and limit utilization — not just reporting it, but understanding why it moves
Partnering with traders and ops on hedge effectiveness, margin optimization, and new trading opportunities
Building financial models and scenario/sensitivity analyses that inform real commercial decisions
Leading budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for the business
Turning complex trading data into insights the CEO and management team actually act on
Driving better reporting through Power BI, Tableau, Python, or Excel-based automation

You're a great fit if you:

Have 4–8 years in FP&A, management reporting, or business analytics — audit background welcome, especially with oil/commodity trading clients
Understand (or are hungry to properly understand) trading P&L, mark-to-market accounting, derivatives, and hedging
Are a CPA/CA/CFA/ACCA-qualified finance professional who wants more than a reporting seat
Want to build real relationships with commercial teams, not just review their numbers
Bring sharp analytical instincts, sound commercial judgement, and the confidence to challenge and advise, not just record
