GFTN hosts a worldwide network of forums and programmes; advises governments and companies on policies and the development of digital ecosystems and innovation within the financial sector; offers digital infrastructure solutions, and plans to invest in financial technology startups through its upcoming venture fund, with a focus on inclusion and sustainability.

About the Role

We are looking for a commercially minded, solutions-oriented, and collaborative Junior Legal Counsel or Legal Executive to join our team. This role balances legal advisory work with operational and business acumen, supporting commercial transactions, regulatory compliance, data protection, corporate governance, and legal operations. The ideal candidate is proactive in supporting and enjoys working closely with business stakeholders, providing practical legal advice, managing legal risks, and contributing to the continuous improvement and refining of legal processes in a very dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

Legal Research & Analysis

Conduct legal research on corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters across multiple jurisdictions.
Prepare legal research memos and executive summaries for review by Head of Legal and presentation to business units.

Contract Review & Drafting

Assist in reviewing, summarising, and preparing mark-ups of commercial agreements (NDAs, standard term agreements, vendor agreements, MOUs, etc.)
Support drafting of standard agreements and addenda.
Support contract lifecycle management.

Compliance & Data Protection (PDPA)

Support Head of Legal and Data Protection Officer on PDPA and cross-jurisdiction data protection compliance initiatives

Corporate Governance

Support preparation and maintenance of statutory documentation.
Support execution of compliance and governance policies
Assist in internal policy review and updates.

Legal and Operations Support

Maintain and update legal document repositories and version control.
Support general legal and administrative matters, as required.
Support the organisation on operational matters as may be required.

Qualifications & Experience

Qualified to practise in a recognised Commonwealth jurisdiction with 2–4 years of post-qualification experience OR Minimum 4-5 years of experience as a paralegal or legal executive in Singapore with relevant diploma, degree or certification.
Preference for cross-border experience in a reputable law firm and/or an in-house legal department.
Experience in corporate and commercial law is essential.
Exposure to data protection, compliance, technology, fintech, or regional legal matters will be an advantage.

Knowledge & Skills

Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, stakeholder interests, and work within tight deadlines.
Commercially minded with sound judgement and problem-solving abilities.
Strong legal research, analytical, and drafting skills.
Good understanding of corporate, commercial, and contract law principles.
Strong attention to detail with excellent organisational and time management skills.
Familiarity with data protection and privacy laws, including PDPA, is preferred.
