PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION
The Young Hearts (YH) programme is built on a simple belief: when children are seen, heard, valued and supported, they can thrive as individuals and be empowered to uplift others in their communities.
Grounded in the programme pillars of Education, Enrichment and Excursions, and guided by our cultural pillars of Encourage, Empower and Elevate, Young Hearts addresses intergenerational vulnerabilities and socio-educational disparities with a strong emphasis on socio-emotional development and mental well-being. Through creating safe, nurturing and engaging spaces, we support children and youth to grow in confidence, resilience and purpose, enabling them to be positive contributors in their homes, schools and communities, one young heart at a time.
JOB PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Youth Work Associate supports the delivery of youth-centred programmes and daily centre operations under the Young Hearts initiative. The role involves building safe, trusting relationships with children and youth, supporting their socio-emotional development, and contributing to structured and informal activities that encourage growth, resilience and positive engagement. Working as part of a team, the Youth Work Associate plays an active role in maintaining consistent presence, providing encouragement and role-modelling positive values while supporting smooth and effective day to day programme delivery.
Key Job Responsibilities
Youth Engagement & Development
Build safe, nurturing relationships with children and youth through consistent presence, active listening and strengths-based encouragement.
Support the facilitation of youth development activities (e.g. socio-emotional learning, life skills, values-based and group bonding activities) aligned with programme goals.
Provide informal guidance and positive role-modelling to encourage healthy peer interactions, emotional expression and positive decision-making.
Assist senior staff in mentoring-related activities, including small group discussions, reflection sessions and follow-up conversations.
Observe and identify emerging needs, strengths or concerns among children and youth, and surface observations appropriately to senior staff.
Maintain professional boundaries at all times and escalate safeguarding or welfare concerns promptly in accordance with established protocols..
Programme & Operations Support
Support the creation of safe, structured and engaging environments during centre operations, including centre readiness, logistics, safety checks and set-up.
Assist in the planning and execution of regular tutoring, mentoring, enrichment sessions, excursions and holiday programmes.
Support meal distribution and on-site logistics to ensure smooth daily operations at assigned centres.
Support regular and ad-hoc engagement initiatives and events.
Maintain positive and respectful relationships with caregivers, tutors, volunteers and partners from diverse backgrounds.
Support communication and coordination with stakeholders for programme delivery, under the direction of senior staff.
Work collaboratively and contribute as a team player by supporting operational needs and programme requirements where required.
Administrative
Maintain timely and accurate programme records, including attendance, enrolment documentation, incident reports and basic activity feedback.
Support routine administrative tasks such as record-keeping, minutes taking and preparation of simple reports or updates.

Qualifications and Experience
Certification or training in youth work, social work, psychology, education, community development or related fields is advantageous.
Prior experience working with children or youth (e.g. internships, volunteering, part-time roles or community programmes) is preferred. Fresh diploma or NITEC graduates with a strong interest in youth work and community service are welcome to apply.
Familiarity with the educational and mentoring needs of children and youth from disadvantaged or at-risk backgrounds is an advantage.
Basic proficiency in MS Office and Google Workspace is required familiarity with student tracking or programme monitoring systems is an added advantage.
