Roles & Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager in implementing the safety management system to maintain a safe and healthy workplace

• Assist in enforcing the permit-to-work system and halt/report any conflicting or unsafe activities

• Serve as secretary for the Project WSH Committee and lead meetings to keep staff and subcontractors informed of site activities and required actions

• Ensure compliance with WSH Acts and regulations alongside the Project Manager

• Conduct regular safety inspections to monitor compliance and continuously improve safety standards

• Enforce adherence to statutory safety requirements and internal safety policies, reporting any deviations

• Recommend corrective and preventive actions to address safety non-compliance

• Keep site management updated on changes to safety regulations and ensure necessary actions are taken

• Investigate accidents, incidents, and dangerous occurrences, and propose measures to prevent recurrence

• Liaise with government authorities on safety, environmental control, and related matters

• Conduct safety training and organize awareness campaigns

• Maintain up-to-date safety documentation for audits (MOM, NEA, ISO)

• Ensure compliance with ISO 9000, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards

• Participate in risk assessments and manage related safety programs

• Oversee subcontractors safety and health practices on site

• Prepare and implement the site Environmental Control Programme, ensuring workforce awareness

• Inspect site facilities and equipment to ensure proper environmental health standards

• Assist authorities in investigating infectious or vector-borne disease outbreaks

• Organize environmental health campaigns and training to promote awareness

• Support worker management matters such as training, medical leave, accommodation, and welfare

• Assist in achieving required safety standards set by project stakeholders

• Contribute to safety planning for activities in public-facing or high-traffic areas

Requirements

• Valid registration with MOM as a Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) and with NEA as an Environmental Control Officer (ECO)
