Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) - Night Shift
Job Summary
You will lead the development and implementation of Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) policies and programs during night operations to ensure regulatory compliance and promote a proactive safety culture in a nocturnal work environment. You will oversee site safety activities conducted after dark, manage risks associated with low-light conditions and fatigue, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to safeguard employees and assets during night hours.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement WSH policies, procedures, and programs aligned with local regulations such as the WSH Act and ISO 45001, specifically tailored to address the unique hazards of night shift operations.
Oversee night site safety operations by monitoring contractor and employee activities against risk assessments and night-specific safety plans to maintain a safe working environment.
Conduct regular inspections and audits during night hours, focusing on adequate lighting, visibility of hazards, and the physical condition of the night workforce to identify and mitigate risks.
Lead incident investigations for occurrences during the night shift by performing root cause analysis, ensuring immediate reporting to day management, and driving corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Train and guide night shift staff on safety protocols, emergency procedures (including low-visibility evacuation plans), and the management of fatigue to enhance workforce safety awareness and preparedness.
Collaborate with night project teams and contractors to align safety goals, ensuring effective communication and handover between day and night crews to maintain safety continuity.
Prepare and submit comprehensive night shift safety reports to management to maintain transparency and ensure seamless integration with day-time safety data.
Monitor compliance with statutory requirements and company safety policies during night operations, upholding legal and organizational standards when supervision may be reduced.
Represent the company during regulatory inspections and audits as they pertain to night operations, demonstrating a commitment to 24/7 safety excellence.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives tailored to the night shift, focusing on enhancing health, safety, and environmental performance during non-daylight hours
