We are seeking an experienced and committed Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Officer to support engineering projects within a semiconductor fabrication (fab) environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring safety compliance and environmental standards are upheld throughout the execution of specialized construction and installation works, including tool foundation assembly, and cleanroom-compatible ancillary works
Key Responsibilities:
- Report to the Project Manager and advise on accident prevention, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance specific to semiconductor cleanroom and sub-fab environments.
- Deploy and maintain WSH programs aligned with semiconductor industry best practices and ensure adherence during all site activities, particularly during tool foundation installation, equipment anchoring, and heavy rigging work.
- Monitor and audit daily construction operations to ensure safe execution of precision engineering tasks, including coordination with civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical subcontractors.
- Attend and lead daily toolbox meetings, focusing on task-specific hazards such as confined space entry, chemical exposure, vibration and noise, and dust generation control.
- Lead safety coordination and ensure all subcontractors adopt cleanroom protocol discipline, including gowning procedures and dust control measures.
- Conduct root cause analysis and drive implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) in the event of safety non-compliance or near misses.
- Convene safety committee meetings and prepare detailed reports for internal and client-facing reviews.
- Supervise the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including anti-static gear, and ensure compliance with cleanroom safety protocols.
- Support site administration and logistics including material handling, waste segregation, and chemical management to ensure alignment with WSH and NEA guidelines.
- Act as the appointed Environmental Control Officer (ECO), ensuring compliance with all NEA environmental requirements, especially in relation to noise, dust, and waste discharge.
- Any other tasks as assigned by the Project Manager or site leadership team.
Requirements:
- MOM-registered WSH Officer and NEA-registered ECO.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in construction safety, with at least 2 years in semiconductor fab or high-tech facility projects preferred.
- Strong knowledge of tool installation, structural anchoring, and cleanroom compliance standards is an advantage.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills to work across multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
- Able to adapt to fast-paced, high-compliance environments with tight timelines and precision-driven scope.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and hands-on approach.
- Willing to perform shift work or extended hours when required by project needs.
- Immediate availability or short notice preferred.
