Job Description

  • Assist the project team in implementing, monitoring, and maintaining Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) policies, procedures, and requirements at the project site.

  • Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with the WSH Act, relevant regulations, project requirements, and company policies.

  • Organise and conduct toolbox meetings, safety briefings, training, and induction programmes for workers and subcontractors.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety documentation and records, including inspection records, incident/accident reports, risk assessments, Safe Work Procedures (SWP), training records, and training matrices.

  • Assist in the preparation and review of Risk Assessments (RA), Safe Work Procedures (SWP), and other project-specific safety documents based on approved method statements and required formats.

  • Monitor site activities and ensure that workers and subcontractors comply with established safe work practices and safety requirements.

  • Respond to and investigate workplace incidents, accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.

  • Prepare incident and investigation reports, identify root causes, and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive measures.

  • Follow up on safety observations, non-conformances, and corrective actions to ensure that identified safety issues are properly rectified.

  • Liaise and coordinate with the project team, subcontractors, workers, and relevant parties on WSH-related matters.

  • Perform other WSH-related duties as assigned by the Project Manager / WSH Manager / Management.

Requirements

  • Minimum Workplace Safety and Health Coordinator (WSHC) certification from an accredited training institution.

  • Minimum 2-3 years of relevant WSH/safety coordination experience in the construction industry.

  • Good knowledge of the Workplace Safety and Health Act, relevant WSH regulations, and construction safety requirements.

  • Able to prepare and maintain safety documentation, including Risk Assessments, Safe Work Procedures, inspection reports, and incident reports.

  • Able to communicate effectively with workers, subcontractors, supervisors, and project personnel.

  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) for documentation and reporting purposes.
