Job Summary
Perform comprehensive safety inspections, hazard analyses, and risk assessments to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. Lead the preparation of method statements and maintain accurate safety documentation. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement effective workplace hazard controls and drive continuous safety improvements.
Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed inspections and hazard analyses at project sites to identify and rectify safety gaps in compliance with statutory requirements
- Perform risk assessments and prepare method statements, ensuring thorough documentation and proper filing for audit readiness
- Lead in-house and project site safety inspections to enforce compliance with prevailing Ministry of Manpower (MOM) regulations
- Participate actively in Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) meetings, audits, and inspections, driving timely resolution of safety issues
- Collaborate closely with Site Operations Staff, Project Managers, Clients, and Consultants to address all safety and health concerns proactively
- Develop and implement procedures to identify, assess, and control workplace hazards, enhancing overall site safety culture
- Report safety performance, incidents, and compliance status to superiors and management with clear, actionable insights
- Execute additional safety-related duties as assigned to support organizational safety objectives
Required competencies and certifications
- Advanced Certificate in Workplace Safety and Health issued by WDA or BCA, mandatory for Safety Coordinator role
- In-depth knowledge of ISO and OSHA safety standards essential for ensuring regulatory compliance
- Minimum 2 years of safety experience within the Building & Construction Industry, demonstrating practical application of safety protocols
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey safety information and collaborate with stakeholders
- Mastery of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Word knowledge of Access is advantageous for safety data management
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively as a team player
- Demonstrated energy, objectivity, and goal orientation in managing safety responsibilities
- Ability to work independently with a positive and proactive attitude
