Role Purpose
The Warehouse System & Logistics Assistant Manager is responsible for end-to-end warehouse operations, logistics execution, and warehouse systems (WMS/ERP) governance to ensure accurate inventory control, efficient material flow, and reliable inbound and outbound logistics supporting manufacturing and customer deliveries.
This role bridges physical warehouse operations and digital systems, driving standardization, data accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement across warehousing, transportation, and logistics processes in a precision manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Warehouse Operations Management
- Lead day-to-day warehouse operations including receiving, storage, picking, kitting, packing, and dispatch.
- Ensure accurate inventory control, stock integrity, and real-time visibility across raw materials, WIP, spare parts, and finished goods.
- Establish and enforce warehouse SOPs covering material handling, FIFO/FEFO, lot traceability, and storage standards.
- Manage manpower planning, task allocation, productivity tracking, and skills development of warehouse staff.
2. Warehouse Systems & Digitalization (WMS / ERP)
- Own and administer warehouse-related systems such as ASRS and VLMs (Kardex & Hanel) including warehouse management systems (WMS / WCS )and ERP inventory modules.
- Ensure system transactions accurately reflect physical movements (GR, GI, transfers, cycle counts).
- Define and maintain master data standards (locations, bins, BOM linkages, storage rules).
- Partner with IT / Digitalization teams on system enhancements, integrations, and process automation.
- Drive barcode, labelling, scanning discipline, and system adoption across warehouse teams.
3. Logistics & Transportation Management
- Manage inbound and outbound logistics, including coordination with freight forwarders, transporters, and 3PL partners.
- Oversee import/export documentation, permits, Incoterms compliance, and customs clearance processes.
- Plan and optimize transportation modes, routes, and shipment consolidation to balance cost, speed, and reliability.
- Monitor carrier and forwarder performance (OTIF, cost, responsiveness) and manage contracts and rate negotiations.
4. Planning, Coordination & Cross‑Functional Support
- Work closely with Production Control, Procurement, Quality, and Sales to align material availability with production and delivery commitments.
- Support production scheduling through accurate stock availability, kitting readiness, and timely material staging.
- Coordinate handling of non-conforming materials, quarantine stock, and rework logistics with Quality teams.
- Act as escalation point for warehouse- and logistics-related operational risks.
5. Compliance, Safety & Audit
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, ISO requirements, and regulatory standards (trade, customs, safety).
- Enforce warehouse safety standards, equipment usage rules, and housekeeping discipline.
- Support internal and external audits related to inventory, systems, and logistics processes.
- Ensure document control and traceability for logistics and inventory transactions.
6. Performance Management & Continuous Improvement
- Define and track KPIs including inventory accuracy, space utilization, picking accuracy, OTIF delivery, and logistics cost.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, 5S, process redesign, digitization).
- Identify root causes of inventory discrepancies, delays, and inefficiencies; implement corrective actions.
- Prepare regular operational and management reports using ERP/WMS/Power BI where applicable.
Key Requirements
Education & Experience
- Degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience in warehouse and logistics operations within manufacturing or industrial environments.
- Proven experience managing warehouse systems (WMS) and ERP inventory modules.
- Experience working with freight forwarders, transporters, and customs processes.
Technical & Professional Skills
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory control, and logistics workflows.
- Hands-on experience with ERP/WMS transactions, master data, and reporting.
- Familiarity with Incoterms, import/export processes, and trade compliance.
- Data-driven mindset with experience using Excel, Power BI, or similar tools for performance tracking.
- Solid understanding of safety, quality, and audit requirements in industrial settings.
