Job Purpose
The
Warehouse & Logistics Manager is responsible for leading and managing warehouse operations and logistics activities to ensure efficient inventory management, system accuracy, and timely delivery of goods.
The role oversees the effective use of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and ERP/MRP systems (including QAD or equivalent), ensures compliance with operational and safety standards, and drives continuous improvement across warehouse and logistics functions.
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations
- Manage day‑to‑day warehouse operations including receiving, storage, inventory control, picking, packing, and dispatch.
- Ensure inventory accuracy, stock traceability, and compliance with FIFO/FEFO principles and internal control requirements.
- Establish, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) covering warehouse operations, workplace safety, and housekeeping.
- Plan and conduct regular stock takes, cycle counts, and inventory reconciliation exercises.
Systems & Planning
- Oversee and ensure effective utilisation of the Warehouse Management System (WMS) for all warehouse transactions.
- Manage and monitor data accuracy within ERP/MRP systems (e.g. QAD or equivalent).
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate material planning, system postings, and operational reporting.
- Support system enhancements, process improvements, automation initiatives, and system integrations.
Logistics & Distribution
- Plan and manage local and international logistics operations, including delivery scheduling and coordination with logistics service providers.
- Ensure timely and cost‑effective delivery of goods to internal and external customers.
- Manage shipping documentation, customs requirements, and regulatory compliance where applicable.
- Monitor logistics performance metrics and implement corrective actions to improve service levels.
Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Lead, coach, and supervise warehouse and logistics teams to achieve operational and service targets.
- Work closely with Production, Planning, Procurement, Finance, Sales, and Customer Service teams to support business requirements.
- Manage and evaluate third‑party logistics providers and transport vendors.
Compliance & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure compliance with company policies, audit requirements, and workplace safety regulations.
- Identify operational risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, accuracy, cost efficiency, and service quality.
Job Requirements
Education
- Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in warehouse and logistics operations.
- At least 3 years of experience in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Hands‑on experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and ERP/MRP systems; experience with QAD is an advantage.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory management, and logistics processes.
