The VTL Machinist will perform vertical turning and precision machining of aerospace components in an MRO environment. The role requires strong hands-on VTL capability, accurate component inspection and consistent compliance with technical data, process and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up jigs, fixtures and tooling for vertical turning and related machining operations.
- Operate manual and CNC VTL, lathe and milling machines.
- Perform in-process inspection using precision gauges, micrometers and standard measuring instruments.
- Read and follow blueprints, engine manuals, technical data and machining work instructions.
- Perform TPM activities and maintain machines and work areas in good condition.
- Identify and propose improvements to machining processes, productivity and quality.
- Perform sheet-metal work or other related duties when required.
- Comply with all safety, quality and housekeeping requirements.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of machining experience in precision engineering, metal manufacturing or aerospace.
- Strong hands-on experience operating manual and/or CNC vertical turning lathes.
- Experience with conventional/CNC lathes and milling machines.
- Good knowledge of machining processes and the ability to interpret blueprints and GD&T.
- Ability to use standard measuring instruments accurately.
- NITEC or Technical Certificate in Mechanical/Precision Engineering, or an equivalent qualification, is preferred.
- Ability to understand technical instructions and communicate in English.
