We are looking for a VP/Research Analyst/Portfolio Manager to join the Emerging Market Equities team to be based in Singapore. This role has the primary responsibility to assist with all Portfolio Management processes, conduct research and analysis of companies business and financial position including cash flow, balance sheet and income statement evaluations.

What are the ongoing responsibilities of this position

  • The candidate will work closely with the lead PM to manage the Templeton Global Emerging Markets funds, generate consistent investment performance, and grow assets for the strategy.
  • Collaborate with country and sector analysts across the Emerging Markets Equities (EME) team to research and review the investment thesis on existing portfolio holdings. Generate new investment ideas for the funds. Follow a bottom-up stock-picking approach in adherence to the FT EME investment philosophy.
  • Develop financial models and build strong investment insights on companies assigned for coverage. Analyze financial reports and filings. Monitor company and sector level data. Lead interactions with company management teams, share insights with the wider EME investment team.
  • Take responsibility for portfolio management processes, collaborating with various stakeholders including Trading, Product & Business Development, Investment Compliance teams.
  • Independently handle all day-to-day portfolio functions - Fund cash and trade management, Dispersion reduction between funds, corporate actions, ESG documentation and certifications. Review and generate proprietary content for portfolio communication such as fund commentaries, RFPs, and prospectuses.
  • Take responsibility for stewardship - shareholder voting and engagements with company management on ESG issues.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to existing and potential clients of the funds, engage with fund rating consultants and analyst teams. Lead internal presentations and reviews of fund performance.

What qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful

  • Bachelor's degree, with relevant postgraduate degrees in Finance/Management. CFA charter holders to be accorded preference.
  • At least 8 years of experience in the Investment industry, preferably in asset management.
  • Strong analytical skills, knowledge of financial accounting, corporate finance and valuation, Financial modelling. Excellent technology skills - usage of tools such as spreadsheets, MS Office suite, Bloomberg.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in the English language. Ability to thrive in a multi-cultural environment.
