The merger of Aviva Singapore and Singlife was announced in September 2020 and created one of the largest homegrown financial services companies in Singapore in a deal valued at S$3.2 billion. It was the largest insurance deal in Singapore at the time. Singlife was subsequently acquired by Sumitomo Life in March 2024, one of Japan's leading life insurers, which valued Singlife at S$4.6 billion, making the transaction one of the largest insurance deals in Southeast Asia.

Singlife is looking for a People Business Partner to join our team. The senior Business People Partner is a strategic advisor to senior business leaders. The role partners with C-suite executives and business unit heads to shape people strategy, build organisational capability, drive workforce transformation, and enable business performance. It provides strategic counsel on organisation design, talent management, leadership development, workforce planning, and culture initiatives. This position also drives change management efforts and ensures that people practices align with regulatory requirements and industry standards within the financial services sector.

Responsibilities

Strategic Partnership & Advisory

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders, providing thought leadership on people strategy, workforce trends, and organisational effectiveness.
  • Partner with senior management to translate business priorities into actionable HR strategies and solutions.
  • Lead strategic workforce planning, ensuring the business has the talent and capabilities to deliver long-term growth.

Organisation Design & Transformation

  • Lead organisation design reviews, operating model changes, and workforce restructuring where required.
  • Shape and drive culture transformation initiatives that support agility, collaboration, and high performance.
  • Facilitate change management programs, including readiness assessments, communications, stakeholder engagement, and transition planning.

Talent, Leadership & Succession

  • Partner with Talent and Organization Development team to design targeted programs for critical roles and future leaders.
  • Identify capability gaps and work with COEs to build tailored talent solutions.

Performance & Rewards

  • Advise senior leaders on performance calibration, C&B frameworks, and variable compensation matters.
  • Provide guidance on recognition, promotion, job evaluation, and market competitiveness.
  • Ensure alignment between performance outcomes, reward decisions, and business results.

Employee Relations & Engagement

  • Responsible for handling employee relations on complex employee matters, investigations, and risk mitigation.
  • Drive engagement and retention strategies, leveraging data insights to improve employee experience.
  • Champion a positive workplace culture grounded in ethics, compliance, and the company's values.

HR Governance & Risk Management

  • Ensure HR practices comply with regulatory requirements (e.g., MAS, MOM, PDPA) and industry standards.
  • Identify people-related risks and implement controls to strengthen governance and workforce integrity.
  • Provide oversight of HR policies and ensure consistent application across the business.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of HRBPs and HR specialists.
  • Build HRBP capability across the function through coaching, mentoring, and sharing best practices.
  • Collaborate with HR COEs to deliver integrated, business-centric HR solutions.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related discipline
  • 10-15 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 7 years in a senior HRBP or strategic HR leadership role.
  • Experience in insurance, financial services, or other highly regulated industries strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated track record in organisation design, business transformation, and strategic workforce planning.
  • Strong understanding of Singapore employment legislation, regulatory requirements (MAS, MOM), and HR governance standards.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders, manage complex change, and drive enterprise-wide initiatives.
